We all know about it. We see it everyday. But how many of us say or do anything about it?
I’d overheard a story a few days ago about a man at the ripe age of 28 in a consensual relationship with a 16 year old girl. This shocked me as I wondered, do her parents know of this? Do her friends know, but aren’t speaking out about it?
For those of you wondering, “Why is this man not in prison?” Or “Does this girl have daddy issues?” That, I can not answer.
But, for those of you who believe that it is acceptable for a 28 year old man to be with and sleep with a 16 year old girl, think about it twice.
Here is something for you to think about. Suppose you receive a letter in the mail informing you that a registered sex offender resides in the home just across the street from you and your family? Would you still let your children, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, or cousins play out in the street without adult supervision? Would you all of a sudden become wary of your
Yes. You most certainly would. Unless you, yourself, are a sex offender.
So, why would you think so poorly of that sex offender if you condone a 28 year old and a 16 year old’s relationship? Doesn’t that make that man the same as your hypothetical neighbor?
Think about it.
